Bronchiolitis

I haven't posted anything this week yet because Malachi has been sick. What I thought was a severe cold ended up being bronchiolitis plus a double ear infection.

Bronchiolitis is swelling and mucus buildup in the smallest air passages in the lungs (bronchioles), usually due to a viral infection. (Google Health)

Although bronchiolitis isn't life threatening, we've had some scary moments with Malachi this week. What started out as a cold/flu virus has created so much mucous in his lungs and sinuses he has had a pretty hard time breathing. When we went to the doctors she had him do a breathing treatment there because she couldn't hear through the mucous to tell if he had pneumonia or not. While he didn't like the breathing treatment it really opened up his lungs, he actually fell asleep before it was over! Unfortunately, after wards you could hear all the wheezing that was going on in his lungs. It was very sad to hear him struggle to breath like that.

So, now he is on antibiotics, oral steroids, and home breathing treatments. Yesterday after coming home from the doctors he had a coughing episode that made him throw up. He was covered in vomit (literally, there was not a dry spot on his sleeper). He was coughing so hard he started to turn bluish. I flipped him over in the infant CPR hold and noticed thick mucous coming out of his nose and mouth. I was able to actually hold onto this mucous and pull it out of his mouth. I was almost ready to call 911 when he started recovering. He was shaking a bit and his lips were quivering. I had to give him a bath after that and then laid him down for a nap. He slept for 3 hours! Since then he has been very happy and hasn't had a single coughing episode.

Our hope is that he will just keep getting better. We'll have to keep an eye on him. Please keep my little man #2 in your prayers.

Day 10 - A picture of the person you do the most messed up things with.

Definitely my sisters. It's been awhile since I've been with all of them, but when I do something stupid. It's usually with them! Lol. Love you guys :)

Day 09 - A picture of the person who has gotten you through the most.

Well, the first person I think of is Jesus Christ. But that's kind of obvious....

so I choose...

Brian! Hmm....also very obvious. But oh well :) I love this picture of Brian. He's so darn handsome!

Seriously though, I have had some rough experiences since we've been married and he has always been there for me. Luckily for me he's a talker and he is always willing to let me talk things through with him.

Day 08 - A picture that makes you laugh.

"What the heck is this thing mom?".

This was this last Halloween. Brandon was really intrigued by this skeleton I had for decoration. His expression in this picture just cracks me up!

Day 07 - A picture of your most treasured item.

My most treasured item would be our copy of The Book of Mormon. I especially enjoy the family edition because of all the extra information and pictures it has in it. The Book of Mormon is the cornerstone of our church (The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints), so we feel that it should also be the cornerstone of our family.

Runner-ups were my computer and cell phone :)

Day 06 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

Aah. What would it be like to just eat and sleep all day long?

Day 05 - A picture of your favorite memory.

Maybe a bit cliche but oh well.

The day I was married and sealed to my best friend for all time and eternity. Best day ever!

Day 04 - A picture of your night.

My evenings are filled with the boys and I generally head to bed before 10pm. Brandon loves to play with his legos' so that is pretty common. This is a "robot".

Day 3 A picture of the cast from your favorite show

I love the Duggars from "19 Kids and Counting". There were several Sci-Fi shows that I thought about putting on here but...if I had to watch a show over and over, this would be the one. Very inspirational to me.

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been close with for the longest.

Day 02 - A picture of you and the person you have been close with for the longest.

I almost couldn't handle putting this picture up. I look grooossss. Obviously, I hadn't straightened my hair yet. Plus I had just had Malachi, maybe two weeks before. Eew.

Mom is definitely the person I have been closest to for the longest, ya know since she gave birth to me. She has been my best friend ever since I got out of my stupid teenage phase. Even then she was always there for me when I was younger. Love you Mom :)

Day 01 - A picture of yourself with fifteen facts.

1. (Pictured above) I recently ran a 5k. My time was 32:something.

3. I am not creative.
4. I really love to do Algebra while listening to Bach. To this day.
5. I LOVE to organize anything.
6. Pink has been my favorite color for a long time, but recently orange/yellow are almost at a tie with pink.
7. Getting the mail is awesome. I thoroughly enjoy it.
8. Combined with a tight budget and the fact that I am socially awkward, Facebook and blogging are my friends as a stay-at-home-mom.
9. I love photography.
10. I love my hair color, but hate my hair.
11. I have an almost uncontrollable sweet tooth.
12. I can't make bread. I kill the yeast every time.

15. I want to become a great sewer.

Cousins

These boys love each other.

*Knock Knock* Hello?

Hello? Does anyone even still follow me? I am a terrible blogger! No updates in over two months?! Craziness! The main function of this blog was to update family members and have a written record of our lives. So here is my goal: One post a week. I can do that right? It may not be elaborate but that's alright.

The boys are growing by leaps and bounds! Brandon is going to be three next months and Malachi just turned 6 months old. Malachi is a BIG boy. At his last doctors appointment two weeks ago he was 20 lbs 5 oz. He is at the top of the chart for his weight and height. We almost don't know where this kid comes from! We're thinking his built must be from my dad's side of the family because they're big "farmer stock" type people. Malachi's rib cage is just wide.

Brandon is doing great. He received a train table set from Santa this year and plays with it nearly every waking moment. He is learning his number/counting and his colors. We are signed up with a program by Horry County School District for preschooler aged children to prepare them for Kingergarden. It is a free program and our teacher comes every Monday and Wednesday. One day he gets a book and the other day he gets a toy or a craft project to do. She stays for 30 minutes and we really enjoy breaking up our day with her lessons. He is a little ball of energy and sometimes I don't know what to do with him!

Well, that's enough updating for now. I will start working on some more posts soon. Thanks for being patient with me!
